Transportation: Bingöl is located at the Upper Euphrates of Eastern Anatolia Region. The province has a mountainous and hilly terrain and this affects transportation facilities negatively. Especially in winter months trasportation is even more difficult at the region. The airport is still under construction. So, transportation at the region is held through railway and highway.
Communication: The communication of 36 villages is provided through the latest technology 'Digital Fiber Optic Cable'. Besides, the power plant of 13 villages have 'Digital Radio Links' and 3 of the power plants have 'Satellite System' and enable communication with world.
Energy: Bingöl supplies its energy needs from national electric system. The residences take the first place in the consumption of Electricity. According to the Consumption rates; the authorities are in the second tier, overall lighting are in the third line. In industry, electricity consumption is seen rather low.
Education: According to the census statistics of the year 2000 literacy rate of the province is %73.61%. The educational development of Bingöl ranks 71th among 81 provinces. As higher education institutions the province has just one Vocational College which was founded as a branch of Fırat University in 1983. It start to training facilities at the campus of the Faculty of Engineering in Elazığ. In 1987, the Vocational College started its activities in Bingöl and the department moved to Bingöl.
Health: Provincial health services are as follows: 31 specialists doctors, 99 general practioners, 13 dentists, 34 pharmacists, 164 health officers, 147 nurses and 122 mildwives are carrying out the health services.
Agriculture: Bingöl economy is predominantly agricultural. According to the results of the census in 2000 in Bingol 69.93% of the population aged over 12 are employed in agricultural sectors. Climatic conditions of the province because of an excessive number of days of snow and freezing the number of days rather be working in the field diminishes. Due to climate conditions in Bingol the working hours on the farm are rather low. It is approximately around 170 days. The total land area of Bingöl is 825,300 hectares and the distribution of theplants are as follows: 414,407 hectares (50.21%) pasture, 18,064 hectares (2.19%) meadow, 226,842 hectares (27.49%) forest, 59,140 hectares (7.17%) agricultural land and 23,547 hectares (2,85%) are classifieed as the other lands.
Irrigation: The total irrigated area at the province is 27,340 hectares. This constitutes 46.16% of the total agricultural area of the province. of this province 'of them constituted. In Bingöl still 14,974 hectares of the land is irrigated by DSİ(State Water Supply Administaration). Besides, 12,366 hectares of the land are irrigated by Rural Services. are irrigated. Cattle and Sheep or Goat Breeding: 53 percent of the land in Bingol is pasture or meadow area. It is quite suitable for cattle breeding owing to this feature. Depending on conditions cattle breeding has decklined in the past years; however, in recent year a vitality has been observed once more.
Beekeeping: Beekeeping, as an ancient tradition continues. Generally, beekeeping is done in two ways, either fixed in one place or wandering around. The ones wandering around go to Mersin, Adana and Antalya in winter times but turn to Bingöl in summer times.
Forestry: In terms of suitability of climate and terrain Bingöl has an ideal structure for forestry and is one of the province in Eastern Anatolia Region having rich forest areas. Nevertheless, as the forests have been used for fuel needs and cattle breeding a large amount of the foestry area has been spoilt.
Mining: Bingöl is not a rich province in terms of natural reserves. Howver; it includes prominent mineral reserves. In Genç and Karlıova, the districts of Bingöl, iron and lignite deposits exist. According to researches having been conducted, economical benefits can be obtained through the operation of iron and phosphate.
Industry: Bingöl is one of the least developed province in Turkey and it is among the provinces having priorities in terms of development. The industry of Bingöl depends mostly on agriculture and cattle breeding. Despite all of the incentives supplied by the goverment for industrial investments, the industry of Bingöl is not at the desireed level.
Small Industrial Sites: The construction of the first and second part of the small industrial sites have been finished through 100% credit support of Industry and Trade Ministry. The industrial sites have been delivered to tye owners gained it.
Organized Industrial Zone: Organized Industrial Zone has been established at a place which is 2 km away from Bingöl-Diyarbakır state road and is at the boundaries of Ardıç Tepe Village. It approximately 12 km far from the state road of Genç District. The total area is 887 535 m2 and it consists of over 37 parcels.
